Day1
Departure

The Bus will depart from Mercy Center, Dallas for our flight to Zurich (based on the departure which will be announced).
You may park your car in a designated spot on the Misericordia Campus, but I will need the make and model of your car and its license plate for MU’s security guards.

Day2
Zurich to Interlaken

We will arrive in Zurich at AM. The bus will meet us and take us to Interlacken which is about 2 hours away. Here we will visit St Beatus Cave and Waterfalls.
We will bus to the site to tour these underground caves to explore mirror lakes, underground stalactites, waterfalls, and stalagmites convoyed by a guide. The entire area is quite attractive, with a series of waterfalls dropping down the cliffs. After lunch, we will go through Höhematte Park ( which is 14 acres). Its length runs between the east and west rail stations and affords a magnificent view of the Jungfrau. Next to the Hotel Interlaken, we will visit the small Garden of Friendship, the first Japanese garden in Switzerland, a peaceful spot with flowering plants, water, and koi carp.

Afterwards, we will check into our hotel for the next two nights. A welcome dinner follows.
Day3
Interlaken to Lucerne and Back .

We will take a tour of the old city where we can acclimate ourselves, plus, stop off to view the Dying Lion Monument, and the wooden Chapel bridge. The bridge dates back to 1333. It was destroyed by fire in 1993 and was rebuilt according to its original plans a year later.
Walk around town and grab a lunch. Afterwards, we will take an Ariel ride to the summit of Mount Pilatus. It is 7,000 feet above sea level and is surrounded by panoramic views of the Swiss alps and Lucerne.

Return to Interlaken. Dinner is on your own.
Day4
Interlaken to Zermatt

After breakfast we will travel for an hour and a half to Montreux where we will spend some time.
After lunch we will go to Martigny where we will board a train to Zermatt 1 ½ hours away. We will spend two days here.

On arrival we will be given a tour of the town. We will end today sharing dinner.
Day5
Interlaken to Zermatt

This morning we will take the Gornergrat Railway 33 minutes up to see the Matterhorn.
This cogwheel railway will take you up to 3,100 meters and a perfect panoramic view of the Matterhorn and its surroundings. Later, you might even want to learn ‘all things about the Matterhorn’ by visiting its underground museum. Other than this, you can spend the day walking around this picturesque village.

I will make some suggestions. Dinner is on your own.
Day6
Zermatt to Lake Maggiore and Stresa, and on to Milan

We will have lunch on Lake Maggiore, on our way to Milan.
A tour through the city will help you acclimate before we check into our hotel for the next 2 nights.

Milan

Today we will visit S Maria Della Grazie to see Da Vinci’s Last Supper. After checking into our hotel, you are free to explore.
You might want to visit the Duomo and then go to the famous Galleria next to it. Wander in and out of its stores at the end of which is a statue of Da Vinci and the La Scala Opera theater across the street from it.

We can even look into opera tickets if anyone wants to purchase them! Dinner is on your own.
Day8
Milan to Florence via Parma

Half way to Florence we will stop off in Parma for a coffee stop, where you may choose to buy some Parmesan cheese! Upon arrival in Florence.
we will drive to Piazza Michelangelo where you will get a magnificent overview of this city. Later we will meet a guide who will show us the city: the Duomo, Baptistry Doors, Bell Tower, Piazza della Signoria, the outside of the Uffizi, and Santa Croce. We will also share a group Lunch together.

The rest of today is on your own.
Day9
Florence

This morning we will visit Michelangelo’s David, thank you to skip-the-line tickets. Later, you might want to visit the Uffizi, or walk down to the Arno and over the Ponte Vecchio bridge to the Palazzo Pitti district.

Rome

We will take an express Train to Rome, and on arrival tour the city where we will stay for the next 3 days.
I will suggest other things you can do while you are here.

Full Day Excursion to The Amalfi Coast

Stay in Rome to explore more on your own or opt to take an optional day trip to the Bay of Naples to boat-hop the Amalfi Coast; and you will also see enchanting Sorrento where you will be given time to explore.

Day12
The Vatican and its Museum

This morning we will visit the Sistine Chapel before it opens and participate in a special tour.
After this, we will visit St Peter’s Basilica. The rest of today is on your own and there are places like the Capitoline Museums, The Spanish Steps, etc., you might want to visit.

A public bus will take you back to the hotel. Tonight, we will enjoy a farewell to Rome with dinner together.

Homeward Flight

Airport transfer and homeward flight to Newark.
Return transfer to Wilkes Barre upon arriving in Newark.
